A lot of people buy these kits without realizing that they are not 100% ready for installation. It is a common misconception of people that if parts are bought as a kit that everything is ready to go. This is usually far from the truth. THERE IS A REASON WHY MOST RECOMMEND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION!
The majority of these "kits" are nothing more than parts pulled off of the shelf and sold together. This means that nothing has been checked for proper fit. In regards to cylinder and piston kits, none of the clearances have been checked or properly machined to fit. Things like piston ring end gap have not been ground. In some situations, piston to wall clearances may need fine-tuned by honing. There are so many precision processes that often are left undone.
Ever hear people say that big-bore kits are junk? It's often not that the parts were subpar, but that the installation neglected all these finer steps to insure proper performance.
When it comes to engine building, tolerances are typically to 0.001", and a thousanth too big or too small can make a significant difference in not only performance, but reliability.
So before you slap together these kits and potentially waste your hard-earned money and time, please verify these steps have been taken or contact Precision Performance for installation.
